May Grape of The Month: Sauvignon Blanc

Welcome to our May Grape of The Month feature – this month celebrating Sauvignon Blanc!

One of the most famous wine grapes in the world, the ever popular Sauvignon Blanc is a firm favourite here at The Wine Centre HQ – and it’s easy to see why! Originally found in the Loire Valley, French Sauvignon Blanc is noted for it’s succulent aromas, minerality & light body – while other ‘New World’ regions such as New Zealand’s Marlborough region produces some fantastic tropical fruit laden Sauvignon Blanc. Ideal to pair with a wide range of foods such as white meats, soft cheeses and fish – Sauvignon Blanc is the perfect wine to help kick-start your summer!

To showcase the difference in flavour profile between a French and New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, we have pitted the Versant Sauvignon Blanc from southern France up against The Ned from the famous Marlborough region – both currently priced at €14.99 each. If light, fresh citrus notes and hints of peach & pear are you thing, try the Versant – if bold, crisp bursts of lemon & lime sound more like, go for The Ned!

A lovely nose of light, fresh citrus notes & ripe fruits such as peach and pear. Very pleasant on the palate, lively and delicate with a well balanced freshness. Ideal as an pre-dinner aperitif, or with lighter dishes such as white meats and grilled fish.

The Ned Sauvignon Blanc
