Tempranillo

Tempranillo – one of Spain’s most famous red wines – native to two main regions; Rioja, in northern central Spain, and the Ribera del Duero, located slightly further to the south. Wines from Rioja are classified using the ageing system of Crianza (minimum of one year in casks), Reserva (between one and two years in casks) and Gran Reserva (between two and four years in casks) and tend to be much more bold and powerful compared to the lighter Crianza and Reserva. If pairing with food, bolder aged Tempranillo wines are a great match with steak and lamb, while the lighter, fresher options go well with pasta and tomato-based dishes.
