Known for it’s easy drinking black cherry flavours and supple tannins, Merlot is one of the most widely planted grapes in the Bordeaux region of France, specifically famous ‘right-bank’ areas such as Pomerol and St-Emilion and can also be found in parts of Northern Italy and Chile. From warmer climates such as California, Australia & Argentine, Merlot wine tends to be more fruity and often aged in oak which adds vanilla, chocolate, and smokey notes.
